Worker critical after platform topples

A 28 year old construction worker is fighting for his life this evening after the access platform he was using reportedly toppled over trapping him against steelwork, on the Marriotts Close development in Witney, the site of a new shopping centre.

Paramedics had to resuscitate the man at the scene before airlifting him to the John Radcliffe Hospital in a critical condition.

Police closed the High Street to allow the air ambulance to land.

The Health and Safety Executive is on its way to the scene, no further details are availble at this time.
