It is hard to say how much of a risk the man in today’s photo is from the normal problems of falling. Ordinarily it would be totally crazy, however due to the level of snow he might have a soft landing if he simply fell off of the roof.

Will he fall? or will he get caught in his own avalanche?
However it looks as though there is a couple of gate post just under where he is standing, and you can be sure that the roof is a least slightly slippery.
His biggest risk of course is likely to come from him disturbing the snow and creating an avalanche of snow from the roof - burying him in the deep snow below.
The photo was taken in Foppolo, near Bergamo, Italy where the volume of snow clearly puts that in the UK this week into perspective..
