Having consulted with the UK’s Health & Safety Executive Aldercote took its advice to integrate the platform, fitting an emergency stop button in the basket that shuts down the forklifts engine.

The platform is said to meet all EU safety directives and is therefore CE marked and does not fall under the PM28 rules for non integrated work platforms and will require a six month LOLER inspection

The platform capacity is120kgs with 1.5 tonne trucks and 200kgs.with 2.5 tonnes or larger.

The company says that the prototype unit has been on test for several months and that several changes and improvements will be incorporated into the final production units. It sees the Hymate as an alternative to conventional platforms for occasional users who already have a forklift truck eliminating the need to buy or rent a platform.

Aldercote is currently working on the selling price and investigating the best route to market.
