Death Wish Glasgow

One of our readers spotted a painter on Sunday working on the first floor of a building in the west end of Glasgow using the work platform so beloved by those working on the first floor windows of apartments or offices over shops – the window ledge!

Painting from the window ledge

Amazingly the windows on this building tilt inwards and can be reached from the inside, yet our man, preferred to work on the ledge, which was too narrow to fit the full length of his foot.

Some side friction stops our man falling backwards

While he may have thought that it was only his life he was endangering, a slip while leaning over to get more paint could have caused him to fall onto an innocent passing pedestrian, causing serious injuries. While the lack of a human cushion could have created a nasty mess that some poor member of the emergency services would have had to deal with…. Or he may have simply dumped his paint on someone out for a pleasant Sunday afternoons walk.
