Vince Mulvanny 1945 – 2009

Veteran crane and aerial lift engineer and trainer Vince Mulvanny passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning, following a two year battle with cancer.

Vince or Vinnie spent his entire career in the lifting business, first with Lancer Boss fork trucks on Merseyside, moving into the crane business in 1975 when he joined Coles Cranes in the UK as a technician.

When Coles was acquired by Grove in 1984 Mulvanny joined the team and spent quite some time in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania - training and being trained. Later on was to get his first direct taste of working with aerial lifts.

With the re-organisation of Grove’s support structure in the UK he joined Samuel Walkers with responsibility for training both operators and technicians.

Having made a success of his training efforts he was asked to join Severfield Rowen which is heavily into Steel erection as owner of Steelcraft. He was a training manager and a director of Engineering Construction Training, part of Severfield's Watson Steels subsidiary.

Vince was one ot the crane industries characters and will be missed by many.We have no firm news yet of the funeral, but understand that it is likely to be held on December first.
