Slopes and gantries don't go

We have received photos of an accident with a mobile gantry crane that occurred last week somewhere in the USA. The gantry was being used to load or unload a Mammoet transporter alongside a railway line, but it looks as though one of the lifting units or possibly the transporter sunk or tipped and the whole rig went over.

The lift was on sloping and built up ground

We understand that no one was hurt in the accident and most of the damage appears to have been inflicted on the transporter rather than the load.

Vertikal Comment

Lifting gear such as this is perfect for jobs such as this or lifting in tight overhead conditions. However the jacking units are not very tolerant of slopes or any conditions where they are not absolutely solidly footed and vertical.

If you have more information on this accident that might help others, we would be pleased to update this report.
