No harness = critical injury

A man was critically injured on Monday in Kansas after he was tossed from a trailer lift after it was hit by a truck, in Newton, near Wichita, Kansas.

The man, Christopher Deering, 36, was working over the street from the 13 metre articulated lift, hooked to a vehicle, when it was hit by a semi trailer load of hay. The impact bounced him out of the platform onto the hay and then off onto the street.

The trailer appears undamaged!

Deering was taken in critical condition to a Wichita hospital.

Vertikal Comment

It is hard to understand why this work had to be done over a busy street, creating a very high risk, but equally importantly a harness may well have saved him, as the lift remained stable and does not appear to have been seriously damaged.

In fact the photo we have been sent amazingly does not appear to show any damage at all? The lift appears to be set up in an equipment yard of some sort, so may not have even been being used for work? We have requested more information.
