JLG to take on Jerr-Dan production
Oshkosh has confirmed that it will close its Jerr-Dan recovery vehicle plants in Greencastle Pennsylvania in October and move production into JLG’s plants in McConnellsburg and Shippensburg. Around 100 of the 250 Jerr-Dan employees are expected to loose their jobs.
As part of the change Jerr-Dan will report into the JLG or access division, transferring from the Oshkosh Fire and Emergency division although Jerr-Dan will remain as a separate business entity.

With the recent management changes at JLG this is no real surprise and in these tough times has some logic to it.
Jerr-Dan started off life as part of Grove Manufacturing when John and Dwight Grove were still at the helm. It only becoming Jerr-Dan when they sold it off in the 1970s in order for the Shady Grove manufacturer to concentrate on cranes.
John Grove went on to found JLG of course.
Oshkosh acquired Jerr-Dan in 2004 – more than two years before it purchased JLG.

The quality of the Jerr-Dan product is going to increase by leaps and bounds due to the advanced technology JLG will now but utilizing on all Jerr-Dan products. For example, the welds will all be done robotically ensuring consistent welds done on all corners.
