German crane rental company BKL Baukran Logistik has assembled a TLS 60 14 Sáez tower crane by helicopter at an altitude of 2,300 metres in the Austrian Alps for construction of a new mountain station in Ischgl.
The components being delivered by helicopter
The crane components were transported by helicopter due to inaccessible terrain. With lift and load capacity limited to 3.2 tonnes due to altitude restrictions, 15 flights were required, all of which were carried out on the same day,
Assembling the crane
BKL configured the crane without a cab and removed any non essential components to reduce weight and helicopter flights. Crane components were pre-weighed and marked, with tower sections partially assembled on the ground before final bolting during flight breaks.
The service team secured the crossbase on a pre-concreted surface to eliminate heavy base ballast requirements. Several trucks with shortened trailers transported crane parts to the departure point via mountain roads.
The tower crane almost fully assembled
The crane will support construction of the cable car station for Silvrettaseilbahn until the start of the winter season.
BKL Baukran - Grúas Sáez official dealer in Germany since 2022 - operates from nine locations across Germany including Munich, Frankfurt and Hannover, with a fleet of more than 500 tower cranes, 130 All Terrain cranes from 30 to 700 tonnes and 30 mobile self erecting tower cranes.
