Death Wish in a skip

Taken with a phone camera last week, a photo of a serial offender who confuses a tipping skip sitting on the forks of a telehandler with an aerial work platform and a safe method of working at height.

Somewhere in Glasgow - a 'cowboy' builder at work

The offender is working on a building site in Glasgow, the man in the "basket" is around 15 metres off the ground and doesn't stand a chance if one of the many things that can go wrong does go wrong. Typically our man has a hi-viz vest on so probably thinks he is safe!

Our photographer makes a very valid point in addition to the pure safety aspect he says: “I am sick and tired of these types of guys getting away with this, I spend most of my time writing method statements and carrying out risk assessments and these loonies just seem to do what they want”

A closer view of our man with his hi-viz vest - so many things can go wrong with such forms of access

Perhaps if someone from the Scottish Health & Safety Executive recognises the location they might pay a much needed visit to this site, it is jokers like this that helped push up the fatality numbers last year.

That's nothing compared to what goes on in Afghanistan. Health and Safety? "PAH!". I used to be dubious about the HSE, but after seeing how our American counterparts carry on, thank God I'm from the UK!
