Don’t drop it now

A reader in the UK sent us a photo of a large pontoon being lifted over a van and two men for our Death Wish series.

Hoping those chains are secure

Well.. yes… it doesn’t look too bright, not really the best place to have left the van, unless of course the crane is placing the pontoon on the roof rack? - but the two men look as though they are clear of it- unless of course it bounces off of the van. So not the best example of a risk assessment. But assuming that no one was still sitting in the van….. and it does look as though it belongs to the client so..

Not really quite up to Death Wish standards…. Nice picture though from - we assume - somewhere in the Southampton region of the UK’s south coast.

Looks like on of Geoffrey's cranes.
Wonder what the lift super was thinking at the time?????

The operator should ask this boss to clear the way before doing the job.
That operator should stop working unsafe.
If do not care then he is not a Professional Crane Operator, because he does not know how to work safe..
