More lifts for AFI
UK rental company AFI has made a substantial investment in new machines as part of an ongoing renewal and update programme.
The new machines include 50 units of Genie's Z45/25 45ft boom lifts, 10 Genie GS4047 40ft scissor lifts, 40 Genie GS2632 26ft slab scissor lifts, five 86ft JLG 860SJ articulated boom lifts, five 66ft JLG 660SJ boom lifts and 35 Skyjack SJ46AJ 46ft boom lifts. It also includes 60 BoSS X3 push-around scissor lifts.
All new booms will be delivered with the manufacturers’ approved electronic secondary guarding system.
AFI has also purchased over 300 Skyjack scissor lifts - mostly 19ft SJ3219 compact models, including 200 used and 100 new units, in a move that it says demonstrates its ability to capitalise quickly on opportunities in the market place.

The deal included used Skyjack electric scissors
AFI director Nick Selley said: “Our purchase of Genie, JLG, Skyjack and BoSS machines will ensure that our fleet’s current average machine age continues to be approximately five years, which is significantly younger than many of our national competitors.”
Roly Round
Contrary to popular commonly aired grievances about rental rates the access industry in the UK seems to be thriving not striving. It is relatively unheard of for one to go bust, there are more and more new entrants and the big guys keep placing large orders. Is it just like the age old farmer always moaning about the harvest?
