Planet sells service operation to IPS
UK based access manufacturer and distributor Planet Platforms has sold its service department to Independent Parts & Service (IPS) the UK based international parts and service provider.
Planet produces a range of custom built access solutions for end users, as well as selling a wide range of standard powered access products, from producers such as JLG and others.
The department will continue to function as normal until the date of handover, when IPS will assume all of Planet’s service packages and existing contracts, which will continue to be covered as before.
Planet Platforms' managing director Pete Pemberton said: "Planet would like to concentrate on developing bespoke access products and work at height solutions, whilst the service aspect of hydraulic platforms is looked after by specialist companies such as IPS.”
“We decided to go with IPS because of its exemplary reputation and its large team of mobile engineers, which will give our customers greater coverage and reduced downtimes."
Tony Jennings managing director of IPS added: "By buying Planet's service department we will be looking to meet and exceed current service standards utilising our existing parts distribution network and central support desk. All our engineers are qualified and trained to manufacturer's standard complimenting those joining from Planet Platforms.”
“Our mission is and has always been to keep clients' downtime to an absolute minimum by offering the efficiencies of a 'one stop shop' for all powered access operators".
