Two thrown from lift

Two men were reportedly thrown from the platform of a self propelled articulated boom lift they were working from, after it was clipped by a passing truck in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada yesterday.

One of the men, aged 59, was seriously injured with broken bones, while his colleague, 39, escaped with more modest muscular injuries. No information was available about the two wearing of harnesses, but given the fact that the machine did not overturn and local reports indicate that they were catapulted to the ground, one assumes that they were not.

The scene during investigation

Provincial police says the workers were ejected from the aerial lift after it was hit by the truck around 4:00 am in the morning while it was working on an overpass on Highway 403.
The truck driver, a 56 year old local man, was not hurt. Police and the ministry of labour continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
