Truck clips lift

A man whose boom lift was struck by a passing truck is alive and relatively unharmed today possibly due to the fact that he was wearing a harness and short lanyard.

The man was trimming trees over the southbound lane on Federal Highway Pompano Beach Florida, when a large articulated truck hit the platform. It is not clear if the basket remained on the boom or fell to the ground- either way he was not catapulted to his death.

The emergency services responded to a call and reported that they found the man "a little dazed” with concussion and facial injuries.

The accident occurred at 9 am as the man, employed by G & V Shalom Tree Care began the job of removing branches that were over the road. The truck passed beneath the boom and somehow clipped it.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, is investigating the accident.
