Swedish acquistion for Havator

Finnish based crane and access rental company Havator has acquired Swedish crane rental company BinSell i Uppsala.

Havator has purchased all of the shares in the Uppsala based company which has revenues of around SK80 million (€8.5 million), runs a fleet of 22 cranes with capacities from 23 to 300 tonnes and employs 50.

BinSell was founded in 1976 as Jansson & Eklund Crane, with its main operations in Forsmark where it was heavily involved with the expansion of the Forsmark power station. In 1981 the company acquired BinSell and adopted its name.
In addition to mobile crane rental, the company carries out heavy load moving and service work on cranes and telehandlers.

Havator, whose principle shareholders are the CapMan Buyout IX fund with a 45 percent stake and Erkki Hanhirova who owns 40 percent of the stock, says that the acquisition is an important step in strengthening its position in central Sweden.

The company already has 14 locations in Sweden in- Nyköping, Norrköping, Linköping, Motala, Göteborg , Stenungsund, Sundvall, Örnsköldvik, Umeå, Skellefteå, Piteå, Luleå, Kalix and Kiruna.

Peter Nilsson, Havator’s director operations Sweden said: "The acquisition of BinSell i Uppsala AB is a part of the strategic development of Havator in Sweden. It fits well into our existing network of offices and strengthens our base and the possibility for further geographical expansion in Sweden."

A typical heavy moving job for BinSell i Uppsala


Jan Winberg, chief executive of BinSell i Upsala said: "The acquisition is important for the development of the company, as we will be a part of a larger group. I knew Havator from before and the company is known for its modern machinery, for larger and demanding jobs. Our equipment will complement Havator's existing fleet, while our location will be an important part of Havator's network."
