Smallest truck-mounted Hydra from Terex
Terex introduced the new Hydra HPT 11/38 truck-mounted under-bridge inspection platform, the smallest model in its current truck mounted under-bridge range, at the recent World of Concrete show in Las Vegas.
The new model uses a similar superstructure to its two HP trailer mounted under-bridge units, but mounts it to a truck chassis. The fully equipped rig comes in at just under 26,000lbs (11.8 tonnes), allowing it to be driven on a regular state driving licence, rather than a CDL (Commercial Driving Licence).

The HPT 11/38 features a 38ft/11.5m long telescopic platform, with 450kgs/1,000lbs maximum capacity. The unit can lower the platform to 16ft (4.8m) below deck and features 180 degrees rotation. The scissor type separation device allows the vertical tower to be extended up to 6ft/1.8m from the edge of the truck.
The superstructure functions are powered by an 18hp petrol/gas engine in order to save fuel compared to running the much larger truck engine. Terex claims that the new unit takes just five minutes to set up and fully deploy.
The new unit will be on display at Conexpo in late March.
