Linamar acquires French component plants

Skyjack owner Linamar has agreed to buy three French commercial and industrial components businesses from the principal creditors of the Famer Group.

The three facilities manufacture cylinder heads and blocks, gears and other engine and transmission parts for large engines for off-highway and automotive applications. They are located in St Romain en Gier, St Etienne and Montfaucon, France.

The facilities are owned by Famer Industrie, Famer Transmissions and Famer Rivoire respectively. Total revenue from the acquired businesses is around €50 million.

The 300 full-time employees and a number of temporary employees of the businesses will be transferred to the relevant Linamar subsidiaries. Closing, subject to certain terms and conditions is expected to occur in February.

Linamar chief executive Linda Hasenfratz said: "We look forward to the completion of this transaction which will add the Famer companies to the Linamar family. Their experienced, highly skilled work force, customer base, products and strategic location within Europe add another great building block for our European growth particularly with targeted customers."
