Manitou in Oxfordshire
Manitou UK and dealer Leach Lewis have delivered two new MT625T compact telehandlers to companies in Oxfordshire.
The first unit delivered to Greenplant of Wheatley, went straight to a new build site in central Oxford.
Greenplant was established by building and civil engineering company Greenford in 2001 to supply equipment for its construction sites in the ‘Home Counties’, particularly on river and canal projects. Today 45 percent of Greenplant’s revenues come from independent local builders, landscaping companies, local authorities and the general public.

Managing director Terry Heal said: “As a local business we are able to react to specific customer needs, the new Manitou has provided very positive end user feedback for its capability of working in restricted areas, thanks to its compact dimensions and manoeuvrability.”
The second unit went to KJN Services of Marsh Gibbon, near Bicester and has already been out on hire with local builders and landscapers.
Alastair North of KJN said: “Our customers are pleasantly surprised that for such a small machine, the new Manitou can lift to a height of six metres and has a load capacity of 2,500kg. It is also excellent for working on smaller ‘in fill’ developments, thanks to its tight turning circle it can offload the build materials and then position the loads precisely without driving onto the road.”

KJN was founded when Keith North started a plumbing business in the 1960’s which evolved into supplying plumbing parts to trade customers and then expanded into plumbing contracting with local authorities, then investing in machinery to fulfil the work undertaken. Equipment rental came naturally in order to help cover the costs when the machinery was idle and to satisfy demand from local trade customers.
In addition to telehandlers and the usual mini excavators and general equipment, the company also runs a small fleet of aerial work platforms, including Niftylift booms to 21 metres and Genie Scissor lifts. The company has a dedicated training school at its Marsh Gibbon base for IPAF and PASMA courses.
