A Harrogate special

Another primitive wooden scaffold, this time spotted in the upmarket English town of Harrogate, in Yorkshire on Friday.

Roses around the door but a beast of a platform alongside

This one looks as though it has been put together by an amateur carpenter with timber offcuts. It is nowhere close to the worst we have seen of course, and looks as though it might even be quite stable?

Those legs look a tad skinny though and the guardrails and toeboards non existent, all that effort to avoid the cost of renting an alloy tower or small lift. All it would take is a slip getting onto the tower or the collapse of a leg and this would look like a very expensive economy. Definitely a Death Wish.

stable? maybe safe? aboslutely not

Our photographer spotter… is in the tower business and took the opportunity to drop off a leaflet and explain the potential pitfalls of the cottage owner’s platform.
