Site Managers win
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) is running a competition for site managers and IPAF Powered Access Licence (PAL) card holders for which the prize each month is a pair of football tickets. All site managers need to do is ask operators of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms and Mast Climbing Work Platforms to show their PAL Card. A PAL Card is proof that the operator is trained and qualified to operate the machine. The site manager then sends details of the PAL Card holder to IPAF and his or her name is entered in a monthly draw.

If they win, the operator whose details are submitted on the winning entry also wins a pair of tickets to a football match of their choice. Six pairs of tickets are up for grabs each month. (Full rules of the competition can be found at www.ipaf.org)
The first draw was held on 1st February, and the winners are:
• Dave Rowe, a works manager with Sir Robert McAlpine, who checked the PAL Card of platform operator Kenneth Naylor.
• Stuart Thompson, a crane operations appointed person with Laing O'Rourke Civil Engineering on the Heathrow Airport Terminal Five project, who checked the PAL Card of platform operator Paul Richardson.
• Site manager Steve Lewis of Pearce Construction, Project Orange - Express Park, Bridgwater, who checked the PAL Card of platform operator Gary Anthony Jackson.
IPAF managing director Tim Whiteman commented: “I would like to congratulate all six winners and commend them for the part that they have played in promoting the safe use of aerial work platforms. The operators are all IPAF approved PAL Card holders and the site managers have been making sure that operators of platforms on their sites are properly qualified.”
The competition runs until the end of March. Two further draws will be made - at the end of February and the end of March – to award twelve more pairs of tickets. Site managers can obtain full details by calling 015395 62444 and asking for a Competition Poster to be sent to them.
