Platform Hire adds Snorkel

UK based access rental company Platform Hire of Droitwich, near Birmingham, has added more than 20 Snorkel scissor lifts to its rental fleet.

The company recently completed a Management Buy-Out and is now owned by its directors, Dave Williams and John Hall, and moved to new premises in Droitwich. Since then business has been brisk, with utilisation running as high as 90 percent generating the need for more equipment.

The new units were purchased from local distributor Snorkel UK and includes 19ft S1930E, 26ft S2632E and 32ft S3246E slab electric scissor lifts. Platform Hire has also purchased a number of Snorkel’s 33ft platform height S3370BE bi-energy compact Rough Terrain scissor lifts.

Williams said: “We’ve had a very strong 2011 and brought forward our expansion plans as a result. We selected Snorkel because the lifts are simple to use and easy to service or repair. We particularly like the commonality of the components in the S series electric scissors, as that makes life very easy for our engineers and simplifies our spare parts inventory.”

James Darnley, sales manager for Snorkel UK, added: “I am particularly pleased to be working with Platform Hire, as its director, John Hall, many years ago gave me my first job within the powered access industry, so I owe him a great deal.”
