The first lift involved a 1,000 tonne test load, which was then pulled sideways by seven metres, to create a substantial side loading. After completing this the crane then lifting a 1,100 tonne load and was fully cycled through all the slewing, lifting, lowering and luffing motions, before finally lifting a 1,250 tonne load for the 125 percent overload test for this configuration.

The PTC 140 DS will now be shipped to the USA where it will be assembled for its first job.
Mammoet claims that the successful completion of the test programme, witnessed by Lloyd’s Register, means the cranes have proven they can withstand the worst-case loadings from its thousands of load charts possibilities.
