Fork truck access all around

In the past three weeks or so we have received two examples of the inappropriate use of fork trucks to gain access on industrial buildings in the Bracknell area of the UK.

This in spite of the fact that within a mile’s radius there is at least one major access rental company and a plentiful supply of suitable equipment.
In the first case a man is using what looks like a stock picking platform attachment, but fitted to a large pallet truck that looks distinctly indoor only specification. Even if not, it is certainly not to EN280 standards and is clearly working on a slope.

That hardly looks like and outdoor machine and even then its on a slope

A closer look - nice platfrom but not really the best machine for the job

In the second case the fork truck is far more substantial and perfectly able to handle outdoor applications, BUT… the platform consists of a packing case which is grossly unsafe given the height of its sides and the way the man is working from it.

That guardrail looks low

No wonder its a packing case!

Both clearly qualify for our Death Wishes series …. There’s business yet to be done in Bracknell and the Health & Safety Executive clearly needs a blitz operation.
