New Liebherr LG 1750 boom system

Liebherr has introduced a new boom system for its 750 tonne LG 1750 lattice boom mobile crane which significantly improves its performance.

Fitted with the SL12D2FB boom, the LG 1750 can now erect larger wind power turbines to tower heights of up to 150 metres.

With a new SL12D2FB boom system the LG 1750 can now erect the new larger wind power systems at tower heights from 140-150 m.

The new system is derived from the current SL9D2FB boom, a main boom with a fixed jib and derrick system. By using three, 12 metre lattice sections with a width of 3.5 metres rather than 3.0 metres in the lower area of the main boom and the extension of the fixed jib, both the lifting capacity and the height under hook have been increased.

The LG 1750 can now achieve lifts of 141 tonnes at a height under hook of 143 metres and 97 tonnes at 160 metres.

The erection of wind power installations is a key application for the LG 1750, but the weights of the systems and the installation heights have been steadily increasing since it was introduced eight years ago.

Liebherr says that the crane has some major advantages in the installation of wind power systems in that it provides high load capacities while being highly mobile on site, with a chassis width of only three metres. The LG 1750 is also extremely flexible, both with regard to the different installation sizes as well as for operations outside the wind power sector.

The basic LG 1750 can also be driven on public roads which results in more cost effective transportation.
