Nationwide Platforms spends £23 million
Nationwide platforms the UK’s largest powered access rental company is spending £23 million on 1,700 new aerial lifts this year, a large part of which will be spent renewing around 14 percent of its fleet.
In addition the company is investing in more heavy duty lifts with the purchase of 25 German built H.A.B scissor lifts. These will be the first H.A.B units in the company’s fleet.
This year the capital expenditure decisions have resulted from recommendations from its new product committee which has based its selections on both technical and financial factors, as well as their ability to contribute towards expanding the customer base.
Deliveries of the H.A.B units will begin in late July, with the first, the 15.2 metre working height 1.2 metre wide S152-12 already available for from the company’s Luton depot. Other H.A.B models on order include 22.5 and 28 metre diesel scissor lifts, as well as a 17.5 metre indoor narrow aisle model.

Our business has always taken pride in striving to go beyond the expectations of our customers and our equipment forms the backbone of our ability to make that happen.
“Our investment this year will see us introduce nearly 1,700 new platforms into the fleet and will contribute to us replenishing 14% of our entire UK fleet. In many of the instances we’re updating the tried and tested equipment we know is already popular with customers, whilst in others we’re presenting clients with powered access that we believe can prove even more suitable for overcoming their working at height challenges.”
