Fourth Grove for Kwik
Australian crane rental company Kwik Transport and Crane Hire has taken delivery of its fourth Grove crane - a 170 tonne Grove GMK5170 All Terrain crane - its largest crane to date.
The GMK5170 has a 64 metre, six section boom and when combined with its bi-fold swingaway extension offers a 100 metre tip height. Maximum counterweight is 51 tonnes allowing the crane to take 1.5 tonnes to 72 metres radius with main boom and basic swingaway.
The company, which has its headquarters in Malaga, just south of Perth in West Australia, was founded nearly 30 years ago and operates from four branches in Western Australia and employs over 100. Its other Grove cranes include a 55 tonne GMK3055 and two 80 tonne GMK4080-1 All Terrains. Other cranes include a fleet of 12 and 16 tonne Tadano city cranes and a fleet of Franna pick and carry units.

Kwik’s crane operator Brent Ohearn said: “I previously operated one of our GMK4080-1 cranes, but I’m enjoying working with the GMK5170 even more. It has improved steering, easy loading of the counterweight, a user-friendly outrigger pad assembly and a powerful engine for good on-road performance.”
