BAM takes two Kobelco crawlers

UK civil engineering company BAM Nuttall has taken delivery of a135 tonne Kobelco CKE1350G and a 110 tonne CKE1100G crawler crane.

The CKE1100G will begin site tests at the new Avonmouth Deep Sea Container Port Terminal in Bristol. The lattice boom can be assembled in lengths from 15.2 to 70.1 metres, and added to with a range of fixed off-set jibs, up to a maximum combination of 61 metres main boom plus 21.3 metre jib.

The CKE1350G, which has a maximum combination of a 61 metres main boom and 30 metre jib, went straight to work on a new nuclear power project.

Both cranes are from the latest Kobelco G-series its energy efficient improvements which include EUR Stage IIIB engines, a new hydraulic circuit selection system with dual pump flow and an auto engine Idle/Stop system which stops the engine when not in use and automatically restarts when a function is activated.

BAM Nuttall, part of the Royal BAM Group, was established in 1865 as a small contractor for road and sewer work in Manchester. Since then it has been contracted to landmark projects including the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, the King George V Dry Docks in Southampton and more recently upgrading the Neasden Depot on the London Underground – for the 2012 Olympics.
