Crawler crane wrecked
A $10,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can help identify a group of vandals who broke into a construction site in Tacony, Philadelphia on Wednesday night, wrecking a large crawler crane and causing more than $3 million worth damage.
Local news reports claim that the perpetrators used front-end loaders which were onsite to cause damage to the equipment owned by Walsh Construction. The entire side and cab of the 150 ton Link Belt was destroyed, they did though fail to bring down the boom in spite of clear attempts to do so.
Nestor Martinez, general supervisor for Walsh Construction, said: “All the machines were locked and they all have cover plates on them so they had keys to all the equipment. It's so disheartening, seeing the equipment worth millions of dollars destroyed. We're a union contractor who hires from the halls. Why would somebody do something like this?
