Terex sells first Gottwald Model 2 harbour cranes
Terex Port Solutions has booked its first orders for its new Gottwald Model 2 harbour crane.
The first units have been ordered in the G HRK 2304 portal format that blends the mobility of the classic rubber-tyred Mobile Harbour Crane with the benefits of a drive-under portal solution.
The standard portal provides clearance height of six metres and a clear width of 9.5 metres, which means that terminal transport vehicles can easily pass beneath it in two lanes.

The first three units have been ordered by an Indonesian terminal operator and are due for delivery in March. They will be employed mainly for handling containers and general cargo. The drive-under capability was apparently a key factor in the decision given that they will go to work on a quay with restricted space.
The Gottwald Model 2 crane was specifically designed for use in smaller river and maritime ports and boasts a maximum capacity of 80 tonnes, at a radius of up to 40 metres, with hoisting speeds of up to 120 metres/minute.
As with the Model 3 Harbour Crane that was launched two years ago, the drive system on the Model 2 is based on three-phase AC power, with an optional hybrid drive. Other optional extras include radio remote control, an internet-based information and diagnostics system and a range of intelligent driver-assistant functions.
In addition to the HRK portal format, the Model 2 is available as: a classic G HMK mobile harbour crane, a G HSK portal harbour crane, a floating crane – the G HPK harbour pontoon crane and G HSK portal harbour crane on a barge.
Klaus Röhrig, regional director Asia Pacific said: “Compact harbour cranes that also provide high-performance handling for smaller quays are in demand worldwide. The fact that we were able to record the first order from a key customer in the region so quickly after market launch confirms the appeal of the underlying concept of the Model 2 crane.”
