Third year SafeContractor for Lifterz
Lifterz has become one of the few but growing number of access rental companies that have achieved SafeContractor accreditation for three years running.
The aim of the certification, which includes an annual audit of health and safety procedures, is to reassure large contractors and other companies that the suppliers they use are fully signed up to a safe culture of work with systems and controls in place to help ensure consistency.
Lifterz has also achieved the Contractor Health And Safety (CHAS) accreditation for the second year running and has been investing heavily in its safety management programme, with employees Quintin Wilson and Martin Dalton recently gaining the IOSH Managing Safely award.
Vertikal Comment
While there seems to something of a proliferation of these accreditation schemes in the UK, they do demonstrate a growing seriousness from the industry to be well organised when it comes to safety procedures and practices.
It seems on the face of it though that rental companies feel obliged to certified under a number of different schemes. One wonders if a single safety/quality standard could be agreed that each accreditation company then audits to along the lines of ISO?
There is a tendency in the UK for accreditation and auditing programmes to proliferate as numerous companies spot the business potential and set up in competition with each other, offering differing schemes, but maybe that’s just us being a little overly cynical? The point is that the powered access industry is setting a solid example for safety management.
