Tadano in talks with Cranes UK
Crane manufacturer Tadano is currently conducting due diligence at its distributor Cranes UK relating to a possible acquisition.
Owner Joe Lyon is now 66 and spending a great deal of his time in his native South Africa, while the business continues to prosper with annual revenues in 2012 of around £12.5 million.
Employees have now been told of the talks and the possible change of ownership, but Lyon is quick to point out that no agreement has been reached at this point.
Vertikal Comment
Tadano is the only one of the big four crane manufacturers to sell its products in the UK through an independent distributor. In recent years the company has done exceptionally well in spite of this and has built up a decent population of Tadano Faun All Terrain cranes in the territory. It also offers Broderson carry deck cranes.
The company, which was established in 2001 has a good team on board and is very self-contained, however with the manufacturer’s support it will be in a stronger position to build on what it has achieved over the past 12 years.
