SpiderRail for aircraft facility

The Spider division of SafeWorks has sold nearly 60 metres of SpiderRail temporary guardrails and customised counterweights to an aircraft manufacturing plant in Everett, Washington.

The perimeter edges of the rooftop at the facility required a temporary, portable guardrail system with built-in toe-boards to protect those working on the roof from falls. The SpiderRail system, was chosen for its ease of assembly and installation without damaging the hybrid rooftop.

The sections can also be easily repositioned and stored for future use. The standard 50lb/23kg counterweights were modified to meet the customer’s corporate maximum lifting capacity of 40lb/18kg. The custom design included the addition of handles and standard dimensions to make transporting and storing the fifty-eight counterweights easier and more cost-effective.

The SpiderRail

While Spider does not name the customer, Boeing has the only aircraft manufacturing plant in the area at which it builds the new 787 Dreamliner.
