The man's ladder was saved from a full fall by power lines to the house

The man, a mason, had set the two stage ladder at a steep angle to the point where it twisted and fell backwards, with the power lines saving him from a full fall. Lucky not to have been electrocuted, the local fire service came to the rescue with a series of…..ladders.

The stranded man's ladder is corrected as he regains his balance

At least a dozen men arrived and used regular ladders which two men proceeded to climb to reach the man, while a couple of men climbed onto the roof to pull the man from above. Another firefighter was telescoped on an open ended truck mounted fire ladder to help rescue the stranded mason and then take him from the roof. The power company had already disconnected the power supply to the house.

Up onto the roof and safety

All ended well, but along the way it looked like a multiple Death Wish which might have turned into an accident. The rescue took around half an hour.

Down the ladder they go

We think the local fire service might benefit from a fire platform.
