Terex has unveiled its plans, in front of over 300 customers this morning, to upgrade and expand its range of heavy lift crawler cranes, starting with the 1,000 tonne CC5800, the first two units of which have been sold in China. The plans include a massive investment in new models and developments to its already impressive heavy lift range. The additions will be to what it has designated the 800 series.

Joining the 600 tonne 2800-1 will be the 1,000 tonne 5800, the 1,250 tonne 6800, a larger 3.5 metre boom, version of the 5800, an upgraded 1,600 tonne CC8800, the 125800 a 2,000 tonne upgraded version of the 12600, and the 2,500 tonne 8800-Twin.

The driving force behind this investment is the demand from the energy sector for larger heavy lift cranes, for windmill erection, power station construction and new refining capacity.

In addition to the new 800 series, the company also showed a sneak preview of an original narrow track kit for the CC2800-1, aimed at wind farm construction.
