Man killed in Dutch access incident

A man using a truck mounted platform died this morning after he was crushed between the basket and the concrete soffit he was working on.

The man died crushed between the basket and the concrete soffit

He was apparently painting the underside of the bridge and working in a very restricted space between the sloping sides and the bridge deck, and had climbed out of the platform to reach the most restricted areas and had reached back into the basket to adjust the platform and operated the wrong function crushing him.

The truck mounted platform was involved in the incident about 11.30 this morning

The incident happened this morning at about 11.30am was in Broekin South, a district of Roermond in the South East of The Netherlands. The man is thought to work for Rowij Bouchemie BV, a company involved in concrete repair and renovation.
