New maker for Komatsu cabs

Volvo Construction Equipment is to produce cabs for Komatsu.

Production of the cabs, for four models of Komatsu’s small wheel loaders, is presently outsourced. However, Volvo CE hopes to begin producing 1500 cabs per year at its specialised plant in Hallsberg, Sweden, at the beginning of 2003.

The decision was announced yesterday, and is the result of a range of co-operation initiatives being discussed between Volvo and Komatsu, first announced in November 2001. This does not include sales, service, distribution or equity participation. Other announcements should be expected during the year.
