Firefighters seriously injured
Two firemen were seriously injured on Saturday in Seewalchen am Attersee, in central Austria after the loader crane on the truck they were driving struck a railway bridge and overturned.
The two men, 36 and 43, were transporting a wrecked car on the back of the truck and had not properly stowed the articulated crane. The boom was too high to pass under the bridge and the resulting impact overturned the truck crushing the cab.
The passenger - the younger of the two - was airlifted to hospital while the driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. We do not what their current condition is.

The impact of the bridge managed to flip the truck over

What this incident does show is how easy it can be to forget the overall height of a vehicle such as this. It is not unusual for users to leave the crane extended and then lowered over a load such as a car while transporting it. But this usually increases the vehicle’s overall height.
