New 27m from Ruthmann

Ruthmann will unveil a new version of its 27 metre TB270 telescopic 3.5 tonne truck mounted platform – the TB270+ - at Intermat.

The redesigned platform was necessitated by the higher Gross Vehicle weights of trucks complying with the new EURO 6 emission standards which will come into force in many European countries towards the end of this year. A heavier truck demands naturally demands a lighter platform, for the final vehicle to remain the same weight.

Ruthmann says that it has employed innovative steel fabrication techniques and design – including the ‘multi-bevelled’ boom and superstructure designs, that is already uses on the 22 metre TBR 220. The changes allow the TB 270+ to be mounted on the latest 3.5 tonne EURO 6 chassis, including the Mercedes Sprinter, VW Crafter, Nissan Cabstar and Renault Maxcity .

The new design also incorporates improved performance characteristics, including the ability to go to the machine’s full height with its maximum 230kg platform capacity. It also offers up to 16.4 metres of outreach with its reduced 100kg capacity – almost two metres more than the machine it replaces. The Intermat machine has been purchased by French rental group Killoutou.

Other exhibits will include the first production unit of the new 48 metre T480 announced last September, on a special three axle All Terrain Volvo FMX truck. The company has managed to improve several aspects of the T480’s performance characteristics over the preliminary ones announced last year – more on this later. The unit on show has been sold to French rental company SMMI.
