Fatal crane overturn
A five axle All Terrain crane over turned in Leipzig, Germany, Sunday morning, killing the operator and seriously injuring another.
The crane, a Liebherr owned by Hamburg-based crane and heavy haulage company Thömen, was being used to dismantle a tower crane in a pedestrian area of the city centre, when it went over backwards, crushing the crane cab and killing the 53 year old operator. A second man, 57, who was reportedly standing on the crane deck, was able to jump clear but sustained serious injuries.
