Boom lift to the rescue
A construction worker was rescued from a 10 metre high scaffold deck under a flyover on the M6/M5 motorway in the UK Midlands yesterday after he was incapacitated with back spasms.
The West Midlands Ambulance Service reported: “A man in his 40s bent down to pick up a nail when he suffered a muscle spasm in his back that was excruciatingly painful. As if being unable to move wasn’t bad enough, he was on a platform almost 10 metres off the ground.”
The man was placed into a stretcher and placed into the platform of a boom lift, which then lowered him safely to the ground. He was then taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
