Fatal fall in San Jose
A man died after falling from the bucket of an aerial lift in San Jose, California, yesterday while converting street lighting units to LED. He appears to have been working at a height of around four to five metres or so.
The man was employed by the electrical and lighting division of facilities management company ABM, which is subcontracted to do the work by OpTerra Energy Services. The bucket truck is also owned by ABM. Local reports suggest that there had been a traffic incident beneath the raised platform, which resulted in a fight, but we do not know if this had anything to do with the fatality.
Emergency crews declared the man dead at the scene. California OSHA is investigating the incident.
