India’s first Terex Explorer 5800

H N Construction of Bokaro Steel City, India, has taken delivery of a new Terex Explorer 5800 All Terrain crane the first to arrive in India.

The five axle crane has a 70 metre main boom and was ordered with a 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension for a maximum on board tip height of 93 metres. The crane is billed as 220 tonne class crane in light of its capacities at height and radius. The maximum actual capacity is 130 tonnes, although it can handle this at four metres radius or to a height of 21 metres. The 70.2 tonnes of counterweight can be quickly self-installed without the need for support.

The Explorer 5800 is powered by a single engine, with a management system that optimises it for both road travel and lifting duties. Fuel efficiency measures include stop/start technology for the superstructure cab and engine remapping depending on what type of operation is being performed. The cab is equipped with the Terex IC-1 touch screen control system, along with radio remote control, making rigging and set up safe efficient.
