AFI moves into Bridgwater

AFI Aerial Platforms has opened a depot in Bridgwater, Somerset, in a move which will lead to six new jobs being created.

The new South West depot, its 16th, will open with a fleet of 120 boom and scissor lifts, AFI says that it plans to significantly expand the number of lifts based at the new depot over the next 12 months. The depot will offer full hire, sales, service and training facilities.

The new job openings include account managers, hire desk controllers, HGV drivers and service engineers.

AFI director Austin Baker said: “We are expanding our network of depots throughout the UK, and Bridgwater is an ideal base from which we will operate throughout the South West. The area has tremendous potential for growth.”

The company currently has a fleet of more than 2,600 boom and scissor lifts and has set a goal of expanding that number to 3,500 machines, as well as opening further depots.

“AFI is moving forward in all aspects – we are opening more depots, expanding our fleet and at the same time have increased our customer base by over 50 percent,” Baker said.
