Can you help?

We have received an appeal on behalf of a UK access industry veteran Phil ‘Fil’ Williams who suffered a catastrophic life changing stroke last year.

Williams has worked as a service engineer for most of his working life, most recently with Nationwide Platforms. He joined the company’s Manchester branch 20 years ago, before relocating to Ipswich and Norwich depots where he held various roles in the service department, most recently as national support engineer for the South.

While he is slowly improving, and is now able to walk again he has been unable to return to work and officially retires from the company today. We have received the following request from his friends and colleagues for all those who know him to help kick start an appeal equip his house for him to live as normal a life as possible.

“I know that we have a lot of charitable requests land in our in box and it is easy to delete and move on, but please can I have just 10 minutes of your time. Fil Williams has worked for in the industry for over 20 years doing what all of us do everyday, then one day last year he woke up at the weekend and suffered a catastrophic stroke which has changed his life and his family's forever.”

“Although he has improved significantly since then, he can now walk relatively unaided and a little bit of speech has returned, he still has no use or feeling down one side, which means he cannot return to work and also enjoy many of the hobbies he had to take his mind off work. Today is sadly Phil's last day with Nationwide Platforms and rather than sending cards with best wishes it would be great if we could do something tangible and practical to make life a little easier for him and his family by trying to raise some money to contribute to installing a Wet Room downstairs in his house.”

“Please could I ask you click on this linklink[https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/WetRoomforPhil?utm_id=1&utm_term=VbbVvR6z3](www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/WetRoomforPhil?utm_id=1&utm_term=VbbVvR6z3)and add just a little to the fund by way of a goodbye and also help to give him a little more independence.”

Good luck and best wishes, Fil. You looked after your people whenever you needed to, especially during your long stint as Regional Service Manager. And it was appreciated and remembered, I can assure you.
Everyone at Lavendon should Work-an-Hour-for-Fil. The company would not be in the surprisingly good situation it now finds itself in without his direct contribution.
All the best mate. I hope things get better soon.
