Blackpool scissor lift fatality
A workman has been killed and another seriously injured when the access platform in which they were working toppled over earlier today on North Promenade, St Annes, near Blackpool.
Details are still sketchy but it is believed the man, in his 40s, suffered massive head injuries after being reportedly flung from the platform possibly 15metres up.
He was working with a colleague outside the Majestic block of flats on North Promenade, St Annes, at 11.50am today, when the lift toppled over.
One man, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. His colleague, who is in his 20s, suffered head injuries and a suspected broken arm and leg.
Police investigators were today at the scene.
The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident.
