Man named in bus accident

Police have named the man who died when he was thrown from the platform after it was hit by a bus in Manchester.

Martin Pilling, of East Moor Road, Worsley, in Salford, was in the basket of the 60ft boom lift when it was hit by a bus on Wilmslow Road in Rusholme.

Platform hit by bus

The 27-year-old fell into the path of the double decker bus and died at the scene on Wednesday morning.

The Heath and Safety Executive investigation is continuing.

A man in his 30s who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on police bail until January, pending further enquiries.
