Crane accident Bahrain

A 27 year old Indian worker, Chamkaur Singh, was killed on Monday after he was stuck by fall out from a tower crane accident.

An investigation has been launched and details are not 100 percent clear, but it does seem that the tower crane was going through a climbing sequence while being dismantled, when one of its tower sections were dropped.

The section fell around 20 metres onto a suspended concrete floor which gave way scattering debris onto a group of men taking a break below.

Singh was struck on the head and died instantly.

The contractor Cebarco WCT was naturally unwilling to comment, the site has been sealed off and detailed inspections carried out on the other tower cranes on site.

Vertikal Comment

While information from the Gulf is sketchy, reports suggest that that this incident is very similar to the one in New York City in September, where a 14 tonne tower section that had just been removed, from a a Favelle Favco crane fell 100 metres into the street below.
