Manitou acquires UK dealer

Manitou has acquired a majority stake in its UK dealer, Northamptonshire based Mawsley Machinery.

The move follows the retirement of Mawsley’s main shareholders Ian Wright and Jane Sheldon, who took over the company in a Management Buy In in 1998. Two current directors Keith Pearce and Sam Sanderson - will also take a minority stake in the company as well as taking over as joint managing directors.

Mawsley was established in 1981 to sell the Bomag compaction equipment and Hydrovane compressors. The company has been located in Brixworth, on the edges of the city of Northampton since shortly after it opened for business. It became a Manitou dealer in 1988 and also handles Yanmar mini excavators, Ammann compaction equipment and Compair compressors as well a range of horticultural and other small equipment. It had revenues last year of £19.2 million and currently employs 27.
