Alimak COO to leave

Swedish mast climber and hoist manufacturer Alimak has announced that its chief operating officer Stefan Rinaldo will officially leave the company by the end of the year.

Rinaldo has spent 13 years with Alimak, having joined the group in 2007 as senior vice president, business development and operational control, after 19 years with the ABB group. Since then he has been chief financial officer and since September 2017 chief operating officer.

The move comes barely six months after the departure of chief executive Tormod Gunleiksrud was announced and three months after the company appointed a new chief executive in the form of Ole Kristian Jødahl (see: Alimak names new CEO). Speaking of the decision Jødahl said: "We want to thank Stefan Rinaldo for his contributions to Alimak group.”

Vertikal comment

It is not unusual to see one or more of the most senior managers in a company jump ship after the appointment of a new chief executive, especially one from outside the company. Usually it is due to them having been in the running for the top job themselves, while sometimes they find that they simply cannot work with the new man or vice versa.

We simply do not know yet what prompted this departure.
